Special Team Events:

  • Balloon Busting Teams
  • Pole Bending (Slalom)
  • Team Relay
  • Barrel (Buoy) Racing

Combined team scores per event determine the winning team. Pairing of skippers on a team will be done the morning of the event. Teams will stay together for all events.   All team members will participate in all events. Combined times of a team will determine score for each event.

Sign up for participation on a team must be submitted to the Boat Leader by 5-19-2022.

Team Balloon Busting

This is a timed event involving balloons placed on the pond and skippers must sail out of a start gate and pop the balloons of a specific color.  This would be a team event involving two or three boats per team depending on the number of entries.   The team must pop all the specific colored balloons

A pin must be attached to the bow of each boat to be used to pop the balloons. These pins will be uniform in length and mounting. Very little of the pin will be exposed. There should be minimum danger of harming another boat during the event.

Relay Course

Members of teams will cross a start line one at a time. That boat must then round a designated buoy and return to a finish line. When the boat crosses the finish line the second boat crosses the start line and repeats to course and returns to the finish line. The last boat on the team enters the race when the boat in front of it completes the run. The first team to have all team boats round the buoy and return to cross the finish line is the winning team. Failure of any boat to round the buoy and cross the finish line disqualifies the violating team.

Barrel (buoy) Course

This is a timed event. Teams scores are combined for official score time.  Three buoys are used and the contestant must go around all three in a cloverleaf pattern and back over the finish line.  Missing to go around any barrel causes a penalty of  20 seconds to be added to that persons score.

Slalom Course

This event involves a boat weaving through a series of buoys, reversing course at the end of the line and running the course backward and to the finish line. This is a timed event. Winner has the lowest time to complete the event. If this becomes a team even the timed score of both team members are combined for a final score. Missing a buoy carries a 5 second penalty. Missing two or more buoys is event disqualification for the team..No problems have been identified with his event

Staff Needs:
Laying out courses prior to starting the rodeo 9:00 am.   Blowing up balloons to be attached to floats. As many as 30 balloons.
Recovery boat will be on the water for the entire event; crews may change.   Timer and scorekeeper will work all events and record times.   Relief staff and volunteers for unlisted tasks will be at the pond throughout the event.

Event directors: each event will have a Grand Poopa in charge.
